Biotechnology Leadership Program
Caltech's Biotechnology Leadership Pre-Doctoral Training Program (BLP) is soliciting nominations for the 2026-27 cohort of trainees. Some new trainees will receive partial funding from the BLP.
The BLP application is open to graduate students in their 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year from the following divisions and options:
· Biology and Biological Engineering (Bioengineering, Biology, Neurobiology)
· Chemistry and Chemical Engineering (Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry)
· Engineering and Applied Science (Applied Physics, Materials Science, Medical Engineering)
· Physics, Mathematics and Astronomy (Physics)
· Geological and Planetary Sciences (Environmental Science and Engineering, Geobiology, Geochemistry, Geophysics)
Nominees must clearly articulate that they are conducting research in bioengineering/biotechnology.
International students, individuals from under-represented minority groups, women, students with disabilities, mentor-supported students, and students who have fellowships are strongly encouraged to apply.
Trainee responsibilities include participation in program activities such as monthly learning lunches and company site-visits. Trainees must also complete a 2–3-month industry internship, which has proven invaluable to former trainees.
Graduate Students: If this program appears to be a fit for you, please discuss nomination with your faculty mentor.
